MISSION/Vision
The mission of the West Kingston Elementary School community is to continue to create an outstanding educational environment that integrates continuous improvement and enhancement of our programs for the success of our students, staff and families. Further, it is our vision to continue to create a safe, caring, supportive and respectful environment, where all students become responsible, life-long learners and contribute positively to our global society.
INTRODUCTION
The community at West Kingston Elementary School (WKSE) has worked cooperatively to integrate the principles of standards-based education into student learning. The staff and principal participate in school, district, state, regional and national professional development workshops in language arts, writing, mathematics, science, technology and behavior management.
In addition, the parents in our community form constructive partnerships with the staff and contribute to classroom and after school learning, and school improvements through the School Improvement Team (SIT) and PTO.
As the ESL school for the South Kingstown district our student body includes students from all over the world leading to a diverse population that encourages our community to learn about cultures beyond our immediate borders.
These activities and the commitment to excellence by the community have resulted in a ranking of a “High Performing School”.
West Kingston School is one of two Title 1 schools in the district. Our goal is to continue to build on the established solid foundation and continue to improve the learning environment at WKES for all students.
We have approximately 350 students in 15 Classrooms, grades kindergarten through fifth grade.
West Kingston elementary School is a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) School. Our expectation is that everyone (adults and students) at West Kingston Elementary School will
