Dr. Stringfellow and Maryanne
Crawford gave a brief history of the SKSD budget and school aged
population from before Stringfellow became superintendent until now.
There is a $1 million shortfall going into next year and they want
feedback from parents on what is important to keep, what is
negotiable to cut, etc. to make up this deficit. Parents expressed
many ideas such as the importance of the DLI program, class size,
transportation, offering incentives for early retirement, job
sharing, and more. Stringfellow and Crawford will be going to PTO
meetings at the other 6 schools.
-
Kileen Urian moved to approve
Sept. meeting minutes; Jeanine Silversmith second; approved
unanimously.
3. Treasurer’s Report:
Beginning
balance - $13,691.86**
Total income - $200.22 Total
Disbursements – ($2,482.71)
Ending balance - $11,409.67
Budgeted Funds -
$37,303.93 Unencumbered Balance - ($25,895.26)
**This amount is different than the
ending balance from August ($13,509.89) since there were several
checks from last year that were lost or destroyed (gift for Kim
Levi, yearbook reimbursement for Kerry Fournier, ice cream social
reimbursement for Sarah Denis).
4. The teachers would very much
appreciate a membership to RRIE. We will reach out to the other
schools to see if this is something we can do together.
5. Hawkathon went very well. Thank
you to Kileen and Lindsey for organizing and to the over 40
volunteers who helped out. We received over $4000 in pledges and
they’ve started to come in. We also raised $442 from the t-shirt
sale.
6. The Pavilion Kit has been ordered
and will be received in March or early April. We have to wait for
the kit before we can create the patio. Brick sales close soon;
flyer to go home again in a couple weeks.
7. Kidcycle: Ad sales are strong so
far; we’ve brought in about $1,200 for the program. People can
sign up for the bake sale and a few more scene parents are still
needed.
8. Autumnfest and Book fair: this
Friday! More cakes and pumpkins are needed – please bring them
Friday. Volunteers are needed this Thursday at 3:15 to set up and
all day Friday for the book fair.
9. 4th Grade Fundraiser:
still need parents to volunteer to run. One idea is the Kidstuff
coupon book.
