FROM MRS. MATHER…

What an incredibly smooth transition to the new year!  I want to thank all of the families for preparing their children so well for THE FIRST DAY!  The faculty and staff know that you did A LOT of “behind-the-scenes” to help your children get ready for the classroom, for the bus ride, for lunch, for drop-off or pick-up, etc., et c., etc. We had a terrific FIRST DAY!  My hats off to you!

PARCC TEST RESULTS…

Last year’s PARCC test results were sent home in your child’s backpacks (for students who are currently in 4th grade).  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Mather at the Open House on September 29th.

CHARGING MILK…

Chartwells is not allowing students who do not have any money on their account to charge milk.  If your child wants to have milk with their home lunch, they need to pay cash or have money on their account.

Also, there is a maximum amount that can be charged ($10).  If your child goes over the limit, they

will not be able to order lunch and will receive a cheese sandwich.

PTO NEWS…

Box Tops: Contest running thru October 31st.  The class with the most Box Tops will win a PJ Day.

Stop and Shop Cards:  Please submit as many NEW Stop and Shop card numbers as possible with child’s name and class.  There will be a contest TBA.

Konstella:  New this year is the Konstella app you can download on your computer or as an app on your

phone.  Your invitation code which is good till Sept 30th is VYaKtJ.

Volunteer Spot for the year.  Please look at Volunteer Spot and sign up for as many things as you are comfortable helping with.  We ask that everyone helps with at least 1 thing this year.    http://vols.pt/DYnV9o

Kidcycle:  Please look at the Volunteer Spot for Kidcycle and sign up for what you can.  This will be updated next week with more specific jobs.  http://vols.pt/VGscKT

Google Calendar:  If you would like access to our google calendar, please email us at WKESPTO3119@gmail.com or request access from your own google calendar.

Pavilion:  We are still working hard to raise money to build our pavilion.  There are many ways you can help.  You can make a donation, volunteer your time, ask businesses for donations, or you can purchase commemorative bricks by going to www.Thatsmybrick.com/WKESRI.  You can pay with a credit card or send a check, cash or money order into school.

Facebook:  Please friend us on Facebook (West Kingston Elementary PTO) and let us know who you are as we only accept requests from current parents and teachers.

Hawkathon:  This year’s Hawkathon (our school’s jog-a-thon which will be held on October 14th) will be a fundraiser for the pavilion.  We will be selling t-shirts, but the best part is that we are having a t-shirt design contest.  BLUE fliers are going home this week to tell you about how to enter.  Please support this by helping your child brainstorm design ideas

and purchasing a t-shirt for them to wear at the Hawkathon.  Pledge sheets will also be going home in a few weeks.  On your blue Hawkathon t-shirt order form, please do not forget to write your child’s name & teacher on the form before sending it back to school!

PTO Meeting:  We hope you will join us for our first PTO meeting on September 12th from 6:30-7:30 in the library.  Childcare is provided in the gym.  If you come, you will be entered into a contest to win a door prize.  We need your input to help make this year fabulous!
